A jury of experts consisting of Franziska Leuthäußer (art historian), Corinna Thierolf (art historian and curator), Ulrich Wilmes (art historian and curator) and Bernd Zimmer (initiator and founder) select the artists invited for the STOA169 project.
The participating artists each developed a column 3.90 metres high. They have been completely free to choose their own design, materials, form and technique. The maximum diameter of the column should not exceed 91 centimetres. The columns can be manufactured in the artists’ workshops or on site in Polling.
In order to open the view into the future, the STOA169 is traversed by a diagonal row of columns consisting of static basic columns. Each year, an international art academy is asked to select young artists to work on one of these pillars with their vision.
